Values

At Taurus Land Care, our values form the bedrock of our approach. We reflect the growth of our landscapes by continually educating ourselves on best garden practices and urban conservation. We foster community - both human and plant - by installing gardens focused on improving urban ecology and explaining ourselves along the way. Integrity guides every interaction, with transparency and honesty defining our relationships. Our passion for nature inspires us to forge meaningful connections through adaptable, resilient landscapes that enhance the well-being of people and wildlife alike.

Mission

We are dedicated to revolutionizing modern gardening by designing, building, and maintaining thoughtfully curated landscapes that suit our local environment. Inspired by the interconnectedness of all living things, we strive to create ecologically friendly outdoor spaces that adapt to a changing climate, support native wildlife, and minimize our impact on natural resources. Through our expertise and passion for sustainability, we aim to redefine outdoor environments as integral parts of our identities and habitats.

our beginnings…

Andy’s passion for nature and ecology was formed in Western Canada from a youth of back country hiking. Wanting to make his passion for plants a career, he completed the Horticulture program at the UBC Botanical Garden, he went on to intern at the Summerland Ornamental Gardens, and Tucson Botanical Gardens. Settling back at the UBC Botanical Garden in Vancouver, Andy quickly acknowledged the significance of trees in the Pacific Northwest and began training as an arborist with the International Trade Authority, as he believes arboriculture and horticulture are inherently linked. But one question remained on his mind: how can we do better for the environment with our public spaces?

Andy’s proud to work with a group of like-minded, driven, nature-loving horticulturists.

  • At Taurus Land Care we're all about sponsoring our team for Red Seal certification. Our owner, Andy Matheson, is a certified Red Seal Landscape Horticulturist who firmly believes any good business should double as a hub for community enrichment - a place where employees and clients alike can learn and grow. To us, professional development is both a priority and a rewarding investment.

We want our crews to reach expert-level status, making us the go-to folks in the industry. Certified team members bring serious game to our services, giving our clients top-notch quality and making us stand out from the crowd. Our goal isn't to make work, but to curate spaces that require minimal upkeep over time. Achieving this goal hinges on the horticultural knowledge that the Red Seal credential provides.

For us it's all about setting standards that can inspire change in our industry. We have an agenda; we're on a mission to get back in touch with the treatment of land as a living, breathing system and to challenge conventional notions of urban garden aesthetics. We're not merely planting flowers; we're nurturing success rooted in our values, instilling joy and education in our clients, and cultivating a reputation that's solid. Come join this journey, and let's grow together!
